What's the Warranty ?
Your LINEDOCK comes with a One Year Limited manufacturer warranty and Lifetime Repair. This means that if your warranty has expired, or that the issue you're encountering is not covered by our warranty (the “Oops I broke/scratched it”, “I want a new battery”, “I messed up with the SSD install” and other situations), that’s okay. We’ll help you get it fixed. It will not be for free but we will be happy to repair and/or replace what’s broken. Send us an e-mail and we'll take it from there.

How many displays can I connect ?
The LINEDOCK 16" supports dual video output. One HDMI and one DisplayPort. That means 2 monitors extra.
How do I connect two displays at once?
To connect a screen to the HDMI port, the MacBook must be connected to the left USB-C port. To connect a screen to the DisplayPort port, the MacBook must be connected to the right USB-C port. To connect both the HDMI and the DisplayPort at the same time, both the left and the right USB-C ports must be connected at the same time.
What is the screen resolution ?
The HDMI output is 4K 30Fps. That means an image of ±2000px by 2000px. With a refreshed 30 times per seconds. The DisplayPort output is also 4K (2000*2000) but with a refresh rate twice as fast at 60FPs.
Can I connect two MacBooks to my LINEDOCK ?
Yes, you can connect two different MacBooks to the LINEDOCK, one on each side port. They will both be charged by the LINEDOCK.
The one connected on the left will have access to the HDMI port as well as the USB-C hub (USB ports and SD card readers) and the internal SSD. The Macbook connected on the right will have access to the DisplayPort.
Can I connect a USB-C Display ?
No, the USB-C ports on the LINEDOCK do not support video output. If you want to connect a USB-C display, you would need to connect it directly to one of the USB-C port of the MacBook Pro.
Can I connect a Thunderbolt 3 Display ?
No, the LINEDOCK 15" & 16" do not support Thunderbolt 3 as it would drive the cost significantly higher due to the high price of the chipsets.
Can I daisy chain multiple displays?
Thunderbolt 3 is required for Display Daisy Chaining.
The LINEDOCK 16" does not support Thunderbolt 3.

Charging
What is Pass-Through Charging
Pass-through charging means that you can connect a LINEDOCK 16" and a MacBook together, connect a USB-C charger to the LINEDOCK 16" and charge your MacBook. The power will go through the LINEDOCK 16" and charge the MacBook in priority. When the MacBook (and any other device connected) is full, the power will be used to charge the LINEDOCK internal battery.
Do I need to charge my LINEDOCK to access its functionalities ?
When using your LINEDOCK 16" at your desk, we recommend keeping a USB-C Power Delivery charger connected to the back port at all time. This way, you will keep both your MacBook and your LINEDOCK charged up, while charging any additional devices connected to your LINEDOCK.
What happens if the LINEDOCK battery is depleted ?
When the LINEDOCK battery is low, you'll hear a low battery sound notification and the LED next to the power button will turn red. You will then have 1-2 hours of autonomy before the device stops working completely. When the battery is fully depleted, you can no longer access the drive, nor use any of the ports.
My MacBook indicates that it is charging but the battery is going down. What is happening?
Sadly, we have yet to find a way to communicate to the MacBook that the LINEDOCK has stopped charging. We hope to fix that soon. Meanwhile, take a quick look at your LINEDOCK battery indicator. If the light is red, it means that the LINEDOCK battery is dead.
How can I charge my LINEDOCK ?
Simply connect a USB-C Power Delivery charger to any of the USB-C ports of the LINEDOCK. The back port is the recommended for ergonomic reasons: Conveniently placed behind the display of the MacBook when stacked, the cable is hidden by it, effectively decluttering the workspace. To get the most out of your device, we recommend using an Apple 96W MacBook 16" Charger.
What is a USB-C Power Delivery charger?
It is a charger compatible with the USB Power Delivery protocol, it can negotiate and provide different voltages according to the device’s needs. It can be recognized by the ” (PD) ” inscription on it, next to the “Output” section.Yes, it is written very small. All Apple USB-C chargers are Power Delivery chargers. The bigger the better.

Is the LINEDOCK Thunderbolt 3 compatible?
No, the Linedock is not Thunderbolt 3 compatible. As of now, Thunderbolt is still a proprietary technology from Intel and the licensing fees would make the LINEDOCK 16" too expensive.
Which laptop should I use with my LINEDOCK ?
The LINEDOCK 16" is tailor-made for the MacBook Pro 16" (2019/2020/2021).
A new LINEDOCK 16" M1 Max/Pro will be available for purchase on our website November 8. You can sign up here.
The LINEDOCK 15" is tailor-made for the MacBook Pro 15" (2016/2017/2018/2019).
Both models can be used with a MacBook Pro 13" and MacBook Air 13" but the size difference will be inconvenient.
We do not recommend using the LINEDOCK 15"/16" with Windows laptops at the moment as the LINEDOCK Power Delivery profile is currently optimized for MacBook Pros 15" & 16" only. The LINEDOCK 15" and 16" cannot charge the older generations of MacBook Pro 15" (without USB-C).
Which cable should I use with my LINEDOCK ?
Sadly not all cables were created equal, even though they all look identical. It is important to inspect the protocol they carry to know if you can use them to charge your devices, transfer data and/or display content.
As an example, USB-C 2.0 cables do not support video transmission, so if you use them to send video to a monitor, it won’t work.
But using a Thunderbolt 3 cable will work just fine as Thunderbolt 3 cables are retro-compatible with USB-C for Power, Video and Data.
We recommend using full-featured USB-C cables such as the Cubicable with your LINEDOCK 15" or 16" to avoid any unpleasant surprise.
The Cubicable is designed for the LINEDOCK 15" and LINEDOCK 16" exclusively.
Which USB-C device can I use with my LINEDOCK ?
The LINEDOCK 15" and 16" are compatible with any standard USB-C device. Thunderbolt 3 compatibility is erratic. Most Thunderbolt 3 external drives will work fine (at USB3.1 Gen 2 speeds) as they should be compatible with USB-C. Thunderbolt 3 displays are not compatible.
Which USB device can I use with my LINEDOCK ?
The LINEDOCK 15" and 16" are compatible with USB 3.0 technology. This means that your LINEDOCK will work with any USB-powered device: USB sticks, mice, keyboard, editing console, controller, USB fan, USB coffee warmer, USB pet rock or USB Flying T. Rex helicopter (https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/awesomely-weird-usb-gadgets).

Can I Install my own SSD ?
Yes. We are strong advocates of the right to repair and upgrade. We are hackers ourselves and we have spent hundreds of hours tearing things apart and upgrading electronics. We designed the LINEDOCK to be easily upgradable: Only Philips head screws, no glue, memory not soldered on the motherboard. BUT: due to the complex design of the LINEDOCK, upgrading the SSD requires quite some skills.
We therefore recommend you to bring it to a local smartphone repair shop, should you want to install, replace, or upgrade the SSD.
As we cannot guarantee the quality of this operation, replacing the SSD will unfortunately void the warranty of the LINEDOCK.
Can I use the Internal SSD for Time-Machine ?
Yes. It works like a charm.
Can I boot the LINEDOCK Drive to run a different OS ?
Yes. This is rather technically advanced but it is a fun project to work on and unlocks a new world of possibilities as external storage booting tend to outperform most emulators. Always back up your drives before starting these kind of stunts.
Can I farm crypto currency on the LINEDOCK SSD?
Yes. But we do not recommend it as it will damage the SSD. Because of that, crypto farming will void the warranty on the SSD.
